Hinge: Dating & Relationships App Details

HINGE, DESIGNED TO BE DELETED Hinge is the dating app for people who want to get off dating apps. And it’s working. Currently, 3 out of 4 first dates lead to second dates, we’re the #1 mobile-first dating app mentioned in the New York Times wedding section, and we’re the fastest growing dating app in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. THE BUZZ ABOUT HINGE “Hinge’s CEO says a good dating app relies on vulnerability, not algorithms.” - Washington Post "Hinge is the first dating app to actually measure real-world success" - TechCrunch “A great option for those fed up with temporary love.” -TheNextWeb HOW WE GET YOU OFF HINGE In today’s digital world, singles are so busy matching that they’re not actually connecting, in person, where it counts. Hinge is on a mission to change that. So we built an app that’s designed to be deleted. * We quickly learn your type. You'll only be introduced to the best people for you. * We give you a sense of someone’s personality. You'll get to know potential dates through their unique answers to prompts, and personal information like religion, height, and politics. * We make it easy to start a conversation. Every match begins by someone liking or commenting on a specific part of your profile. * We ask how your dates are going. After exchanging phone numbers with a Match, we’ll follow up to hear how your date went so we can make better recommendations in the future. The app is free to use. Members looking to see who likes them, set advanced preferences, or access Hinge Experts can upgrade to a Preferred Membership. • Working for me

Since joining I’ve gone on a date a month. I’ve found the women I’ve talked to have in general been more serious. My only two gripes are that there are definitely ghost/scam accounts on here and I wish you could see another list of people you sent a like to just so you can retract if you hit like by accident which has happened to me a few times!

I paid for 3 months and after a week met this guy. We clicked instantly. After multiple dates I decided to delete the app because I’m just one of those people that feels if you’re still “keeping it out there” then you’re not fully invested with what’s in front of you. Maybe a little premature. Well fast forward fabulous days and evenings and he fell off the face of the earth 💔 So now all week I’ve been trying to sign back on and the app refuses to let me. Contacting support has been useless. The app updates today and still it’s not working 🤦🏼‍♀️
  • Some profiles don’t load?

They recommend people as a great match who want kids, when I specify I don’t want kids. How basic of programming is that?
  • Cannot stand the repeat choices

I find Hinge to be one of the worst dating apps when it comes to showing the same people over and over. I researched their statistics and “they” say they repeat people you’ve nixed before because we change our minds. So I thought I would pick a few and see how often they come up in my feed as a choice. The three I chose for my sample and had nixed, I had to nix over 50 times, within a week! I think after awhile the program might get the picture that I DO NOT WANT to see their pictures anymore. It’s bad enough that I no longer want to be on here.
  • Update removed height preference without paying

App was great until recently when the ability to filter based on height was taken away. Now users need to pay to be able to filter by height. I’m 6’3 and it saves everyone time to be able to filter by height. Dev team could you please reverse the new pay to filter by height policy.

I signed up for Hinge the other day and was told I’d get a 1 month free trial. I still haven’t received it yet. When will I get it?
  • The app should be named Catfish

The app is well-intended, but awful in that it’s full of people who are obviously catfishing. I’ve reported multiple fake accounts each week, and I never receive a reply with an update on what Hinge is doing to eliminate the ease in which people setup fake accounts. The accounts are so obviously fake - clearly setup by individuals who barely read/write English. They answer the Hinge questions in the most absurd way. Hinge needs to do better. I’m on the verge of deleting the app....it’s not only annoying, it’s a user-safety issue!
  • Waste of time

Every single girl on this app: - “Where to find me at the party - petting the dog” - Doesn’t reply because they’re looking for compliments and not interested in actual dating. Either you’re “too good to be true” or they’ll find some insignificant detail about you which is more rewarding to make snide comments about with their girl”friend” - Has link to their instagram with pics of their sleazy ex and pics of their five children each from a different father - Makes corny reference to a food that they like and pretend it’s the best thing ever, nothing of substance whatsoever on their entire bio. - States a job occupation like “pilot” or “doctor”, but in reality they are a stripper or porn actress Only 40+ women that seem to belong in a movie about a psycho stalker woman will message.

All of the men I communicated with showed the classic scammer red flags. Except one. To see if I was just being paranoid, I gave a couple a spare number I have. Nope not in my head ! Sadly I wasted money for a premium membership.
